EDITORIAL ARTICLES
Tota mulier in mamma. (The whole woman is in her breast) 553
A. Gorins - Paris, FRANCE
The author, an expert in the field of breast disease, stresses the role of “mamma” in women. The aesthetic appearance, erotic sensitivity and the symbol of maternity (lactation) are very important in a woman’s life. The fear of breast cancer creates anxiety in women even if screening programmes reduce mortality.

Hepatic metastasectomy as a cytoreductive strategy for the treatment of liver metastases in breast cancer: Review of literature 555
M. Friedrich, D. Diesing, A. Schröer - Lübeck, GERMANY
Resection of liver metastases in breast cancer patients is a controversial therapeutical approach, but long-term results of retrospective studies possibly support the role of a surgical approach in selected patients.

REVIEW ARTICLES
The role of tumor markers in non-palpable breast cancers 559
A.C. Goussia, D. Stefanou, N.J. Agnantis - Ioannina, GREECE
Screening mammography and clinical breast examination are the best tools available for the diagnosis of breast carcinomas in asymptomatic women. Tissue tumor markers, such as proliferation markers, hormone receptors, c-erbB-2 and p53 oncoproteins, bcl-2 gene and angiogenesis-related markers do not seem to distinguish mammographically detected tumors from clinically presented cancers.

Inhibitors of angiogenesis in therapy of ovarian cancers 562
J. Markowska, S. Szala - Gliwice, POLAND
The results of the research on angiogenesis mechanisms in cancers, especially those concerning application of antiangiogenic factors in ovarian cancers, are presented.

Imagery studies of the axillary region through ultrasound and color Doppler might be useful in assessing axillary lymph node metastases in patients with breast cancer.

F. Lécuru, P. Desfeux, S. Camatte, A. Bissery, F. Robin, B. Blanc, D. Querleu - Toulouse, FRANCE
Laparoscopic management of early ovarian cancer is not very effective for staging but seems to preserve survival.

The outcome between LEEP and cold-knife conization due to HSIL was compared, and in cases with unsatisfactory colposcopy cold-knife should be considered.

M. Dede, M.C. Yenen, U. Goktolga, N.K. Duru, M. Guden, S. Dilek, R. Pabuccu - Ankara, TURKEY
Adjuvant therapy for cytology-positive cases does not alter the survival rate in patients with endometrial carcinoma confined to
the uterus.

Ovarian tumors can be reliably assessed by color Doppler transvaginal sonography.

Low-dose 5-fluorouracil adjuvant in laser therapy for HPV lesions in immunosuppressed patients and cases of difficult control 597
N.M.G. Speck, J.C.L. Ribalta, J. Focchi, R.R.L. Costa, F. Kesselring, V.G. Freitas - São Paulo, SP, BRAZIL
The aim of the study was to assess both vulvar and intravaginal 5-fluorouracil adjuvant use to lasertherapy in HPV-induced lesions in the lower genital tract.

E.F.C. Murta, F.C. Goulart de Andrade, S.J. Adad, M.A. Hazarabedian de Souza - Uberaba M.G., BRAZIL
A retrospective study was conducted to determine the management of LSIL in pregnancy. Conservative management with col-poscopic
evaluation is proposed.

N. Kilinç, M. Yaldiz - Diyarbakir, TURKEY
Expressions of c-erbB-2, p53, ER, and PgR may be used in the evaluation of breast carcinoma. p53 expression is a marker of high histological grade in postmenopausal status, and c-erbB-2 expression is associated with histologically ductal subtypes.

S.B. Akinci, N. Örnek, C. Çelebiog?lu, A. Ayhan - Ankara, TURKEY
